The Novice Handbook
Equipment
As a novice, we'll provide you with everything you need to start shooting.
However, after you've started to get more invested in the sport, you may choose to buy your own kit.
Novices are expected to purchase kit after a year if they intend to continue shooting with us as the club equipment is reused for the next year's novices!
There is a lot you can buy out there, so we've created guidelines below to help you out, depending on which bowstyle you'd like to shoot!
Before you buy any bow components (risers, sights, limbs etc.) or arrows, please talk to our Equipment Officer as these are important purchases!
Note: Compound equipment page to be updated.
Click here to read our guide for archers who want to purchase a recurve or barebow kit!
A guide is still under construction for aspiring compound archers, for now we recommend speaking to one of our senior compounds. Refer to the committee page to get familiar with our compounds in committee. Don't be too shy to send a message into the main chat channel in our Discord, we are happy to help! Or just catch them in the range.
Traditional guide
A guide for traditional archery equipment is a bit tough to make since there are so many different types of traditional bows and styles. Pop a message into the Discord's main chat channel with a request for some help with your aspiring setup, and our longbow members will be able to reply.
Here is a website that might be useful to read for more information.
